STYLE// Ann Demeulemeester combines her Womenswear and Menswear Shows

Haven't blogged for a while because I've been super busy with Uni deadlines etc. the usual boring stuff but I just read about the Ann Demeulemeester and had to blog INSTANTLY about it.

This is something I feel strongly about, so strongly that I plan to write my Cultural Studies for Fashion Essay about, this term, at Uni.

If there's one thing I hate about the Fashion Industry it's that Men's fashion is treated like the unloved middle child; ignored between all the achievements of Women's Fashion Week and the Couture Shows. After all that the little bit of limelight Men's fashion does get, is restricted by the cultural paradigm of  ' the rules of men's fashion' that irritate me more than probably anything else.

Whilst London Collections: Men is going from strength to strength and gaining stronger footing year on year, it's still nothing compared to the huge spectacle of Fashion Week.

Which is why the Ann Demeulemeester show inspired me this season. She made the (what should be, but is) risky statement of combining both her Menswear and women's show as one. A stroke of brilliance in my eyes as it brought Menswear to the forefront of the fashion industry by force.

STYLE// London Today

It's been a rainy day here in London today, for a change. Have a look at how the people of London are handling the weather

STYLE// All I Want for Christmas is Stuff

Christmas is fast approaching, just over one week away now in fact. As well as student christmas (student loan day) shortly after, so naturally all I can think about is what I'm going to be buying myself after christmas, hopefully during the sales. So far I've noted the following:

I need to find a good alternative to the Asos Tiny Beanie because I've lost mine and I used to wear it all the time but Asos no longer stock them. I also need a new Bandana as the one I usually wear wasn't mine and I had to give it back, as well as the leather cap from American Apparel which I think I'll wear quite often. Then I plan on buying some heavily distressed jeans, i've seen a really nice pair at H&M but I can't find them on the website. Finally I want the leather jacket pictured above from Topman which I tried on and is sooooooo nice.

None of the above photos belong to me

STYLE// Shoreditch Street Style

Today I went shopping in BOXPARK in Shoreditch which is basically a cluster of little pop up shops with some really cool stuff. I bought a palm tree print jumper from one of the shops called Gu-Gu which was very cool and will be posted on my instagram later. Below you can see some of my street style pictures from today...

LIFE// Maria Grachvogel SS14

Although my blog does focus on mens' style I do appreciate a womenswear show occasionally which is why this post is filed under lifestyle and not style. Today I had the opportunity to attend the Maria Grachvogel SS14 show and it was amazing, above you can see what I personally thought were the highlights of the show.

STYLE// Brand Appreciation: COS

"PERFECTLY BALANCED IN EVERY SINGLE ASPECT"

I attended an interview for Fashion Buying at De Montfort University today and I was asked the question "Do you have a favourite high street store and if so why?".

The answer was immediately obvious; COS. COS represents everything Menswear should be, it's timeless and classical but in no way boring, it doesn't try hard to adhere to every whim of the fickle fashion world and as such has one of the most concise brand images on the high street.

It's effortless but not sloppy, timeless but not boring, mature but not stuffy. In as few words as possible it is perfectly balanced in every single aspect

PEOPLE// Romek Gellardo Gello

Romek writes one of my favourite blogs, it's interesting for me to read because he is so close to me in age that it's both inspirational but not inaccessible like some of my other favourite bloggers who live such different lifestyles.

Romek has kindly answered some questions to help us get to know the guy behind Gelardo Fashion

JACKSSTYLE: Tell me about yourself?
ROMEK GELLARDO GELLO: I'm turning 17 next month so I'm still going to school. My hobby is music and I love fashion that's why I ended up being a bloger.
When I think about it right now I can't imagine doing anything else.

JS: Describe your style in 5 words?
RGG: Sporty, Street, Classic, Minimalistic, Urban.

JS: Who is your biggest fashion idol?
RGG: Givenchy I love everything about their style. When it comes to a spesific person there are way to many.

JS: What interests you about fashion?
RGG: I love the personal freedom. Everybody can express themselves and identify themselves with their own style. Fashion is not only about looking good it's about being yourself and proudly showing it off.

JS: If you had to pick one item of clothing to save in your wardrobe what would you pick?
RGG: Definitely a shirt from Givenchy or some sick Jordan 4.

LIFE// London Fashion Week SS14 Street Style

This was my first fashion week and it was really great, I don't wanna name drop (except for I do so I will), we saw Mark-Francis Vandelli, who was dressed impeccably as always, Victoria Baker-Harber, Demi Lovato, Cara Delevigne (Who is surprisingly short in real life and seemed really sweet) alongside Jourdan Dunn (Perfection), Louis Tomlinson and girlfriend, Olivia Palmero, Greg James and Brix Smith-Start, as well as a lot of other fashion bloggers and beauty bloggers according to my friends.

Here are some of my favourite street style picks from the weekend

Also I got to meet Ivania Carpio from http://love-aesthetics.blogspot.co.uk and she was really sweet.

OUTFITS// Brutalist Blue

Collar Tip Shirt // Topman // Old
Squared Neck Jumper //  COS // £69
Wool Bike Jacket // COS // No longer for Sale
510s // Levi's // £80
Elites // Nike // £45

What I love about this outfit are it's subtle nuances, like the different shades of blue, or the different ways the jacket can be worn, taking it from peacoat to biker jacket, or the way the collar tips align perfectly with the squared neck on the jumper.

STYLE// Levi's Streetwear Spring/Summer 2013

Levi's aesthetic is based in workwear, it's casual yet refined, with a sense of eclecticism. Levi's isn't about showy statement pieces but rather a timeless look that is functional (but not in an elasticated waist kind of way).

For all of that it only makes sense for Levi's to release what seems an obvious step; a streetwear collection. The video above showcases what is a very muted collection for spring/summer, which is very fitting to both the brand and street wear.

STYLE// Spring Wishlist

1 - COS // COS
2 - WEEKDAY
3 - ZARA
4 - COS
5 - A.P.C.
6 - CHEAP MONDAY

Spring is my favourite season, partly because of the sun and the fact that it's not TOO warm but mostly because it starts with my birthday! Meaning that I may actually stand a chance of getting these clothes... Also I've noticed that most the brands I like are either Swedish or French lately (and expensive) only one item on my wishlist isn't from a swedish/french brand.
