Topman Design 2012 Fall/Winter Collection

As is expected from Topman Design; relatively new high end brand within the Topshop family, the collection delivers luxury pieces with with a structured silhouette, seemingly paying homage to a 1960s Britain. The collection itself however holds it's own reputation with the addition of many of-the-moment luxury fabrics such as mohair, soft boucle, hi-shine PVC and thick wool.

SHOWS: Jeremy Scott 2012 Fall/Winter Collection

If I'm honest with every collection I become less of a fan of Jeremy Scott's work. To me at times it just seems tacky for the sake of being tacky, to make a statement rather than design nice clothes. The only good thing about this show for me was the models, their all of the moment and made the clothing look acceptable, oh and maybe the melted smiley jumper at a stretch but that's all. I'll let you make your own decision though...

LOOKBOOKS: Herschel Supply Co Spring 2012 Lookbook

Spring is approaching and Lookbooks are flooding in thick and fast. Canadian Brand Herschel Supply Co. have released theirs and it's great. It encapsulates the feeling of summer and being with friends along with a muted colour pallet to keep it on trend whilst always adhering to the Vintage/Americano look that Herschel do so well.

LOOKBOOKS: Pierre Balmain 2012 Spring/Summer Lookbook

Balmain has a long-lived reputation of luxury and elegance and has recently started to attain a rebellious 'punk' edge. I fell in love with the Autumn/Winter Collections this year and have yet again with their Spring/Summer lookbook which is absolutely stunning, although if I had to pick fault it would be with the footwear but I'm very picky in that respect. The rest of the lookbook can be seen below.

STYLE: All a man could need for the summer months

If you're like me and your wardrobe is made for winter and awkwardly forced into summer environments then that probably means you're already going through the stress of thinking about a summer wardrobe. 

Every year I continue to buy heavy jumpers and warm coats all the way through summer just to regret it all when I look back at photos after the summer months. So I've put together a "capsule collection" of all the clothes a man could want and need for the warmest season. A whole summer wardrobe for less than £700! Now £700 may seem a lot but £300 of that is on Penfield jackets which last forever and in a classic style so they'll never go out of trend, many of the items will probably be in your wardrobe already and  some crafty penny-pinching will bring that total way down (albeit at the cost of quality). STYLE: Alexander McQueen Fire-Print Shirt

Now I can't be sure on what to think about this shirt, on the one hand I'm tempted to worship everything that falls out of the widely revered fashion house that is McQueen but on the other, I am looking at a fire-print shirt, thinking why? To me it just seems to be a throw back to the early 2000s which is a fashion period I'm sure most of us would rather forget.

 It isn't that it's a badly made fire-print shirt, don't get me wrong, if I had to wear fire-print shirt this would be my first choice, but then would I pay £630 for an Alexander McQueen cubic zirconia ring. Hmm maybe...

LOOKBOOKS: Penfield Spring/Summer 2012

I am actually in love with this Lookbook by Penfield for Spring/Summer, I had a funny feeling that pastels were going to be an important aspect in mens clothing this season after having seen items from Norse Projects in pastel hues and Penfield really plays up to that and still keeps the collection masculine, I'll definitely be trying to purchase a few items from this collection as soon as possible. I've been really drawn towards the colour blue lately, teamed with crisp silhouettes I think it looks really great. Especially monochromatic blue outfits, which brought me to Alexander Wang. He's been one of my favourite men's designers as of late, the shoes for me are questionable but I love the rest, namely the outerwear which brings something extra to his ready to wear collections.

Trend Spotted: (Building on) 'Florals for Men?'

Paul Smith recently released a pair of floral t-shirts for men, an interesting set if I do say so. I prefer the blue and I'd actually wear it with the right outfit:

Nike Sportswear 2012 "Black History Month" Collection

The footwear range is made up of an Air Force 1, Air Max 1, Nike Huarache Free, and Nike Blazer model

Although the reasons as to why Nike has created a collection and called it the "Black History Month" collection is reasonably questionable and some might say exploitative of black history's heritage, the collection for me is well, perfect. The pieces have an air of luxury and the colours are perfect, bright but deep so that they stay subtle and stay away from the neon shades that nobody wants to see.
