PEOPLE// Gerard Valldeperas

All Photos Sources from lookbook.nu/gerardsreal and thewambag.net

Gerard is a 19 Year-Old Graphic Design Student living in Barcelona. There's something so admirable about his style, its effortless and eclectic whilst still undeniably urban, Gerard's interest in Fashion Photography is clear in his outfit photographs as well as throughout his entire blog which I urge anyone and everyone to look at HERE

Gerard kindly agreed to answer a few questions:

JACKSSTYLE: What interests you about fashion?
GERARD VALLDEPERAS: I like fashion 'cause I can show about myself through it.

JS: Describe your style in in 5 words?
GV: Comfortable, Casual, Less is More.

JS: What's the best piece off fashion advice you can give?
GV: Just wear what you feel like you'll feel comfortable.

OUTFITS// Spring is Coming

Spring is right around the corner and England has actually warmed up a little (but hardly at all) which was cause enough for Ray-Bans in my humble opinion. I'll be posting a spring inspiration board in the next few days so keep coming back!

Most of these items aren't new so I can't remember prices, plus I got the Sweater in New York which was a while ago so I don't know if it's available in England at all.

STYLE// Ute Ploier Fall/WInter 2013-14

Ute Ploier's Autumn/Winter 2013-14 lookbook is shot in Monochrome which exaggerates the youthful nature of the pictures. The shots are full of energy and the clothes are just perfect, not too sure about the Samurai stance in 3 though.

OUTFITS// Scandinavian Winter

Coat // Cheap Monday // £15 (so lucky in the summer sales)
Shirt // DIY [here] // N/A
Turtleneck // Cos // £18
Skinny Trousers // Topman // Old
Shoes // Nike Elites // £45
Watch // Hugo Boss // £135

Normally at this point of the year, people my age are praying for snow every night and groaning every morning because we have another college day, but nevertheless, this year we've experienced a scandinavian winter because of something to do with the North Atlantic Jet Stream (I have no idea if I'm honest), making for some nice winter outfit photos and six day long weekend.

STYLE// Best and Worst of London Fashion Week

It's the biggest mens fashion week yet and we've had some really great displays so far of what we'll all be wearing next fall/winter. Here are my favourite picks as well as some of the more questionable pieces from London.

I loved the cropped peacoats from Topman Design, I've never been drawn to peacoats they're just a little bit too vanilla but having cropped them really gave them an edge and made them the perfect pairing with the baggier silhouette of the trousers in the collection. The black structured jacket from Qasimi is BEAUTIFUL, I just want it so bad, it's got a very precise quilted texture to it that just feels really fresh. Lastly I love the metallics in the Richard Nicoll Collection, amongst the mostly timeless collection it just pops without being gaudy.

It's a pet peeve of mine when a Fall/Winter collection doesn't cover the model up, it's just not a winter look so sorry Sibling (immediate left) but I'm not loving it, and I'd rather not comment on the pieces by JWAnderson (far left) out of fear of offending any angry feminists.

LIFE// Real Style is Timeless

A philosophy many of us could adopt, trends are a very real thing in Men's Style now and that's not a bad thing. That being said on the whole Men's Style hasn't changed a great deal for a very long time and for good reason, "if it ain't broke don't fix it".

I've tried to take a more timeless approach to my style lately, simple pieces that come together and form a concise aesthetic. Men's style isn't about making big statements. Keep it simple and the outfit will be stylish for the next 20 years if not longer, go too far and you'll probably come to regret it. Don't believe me? lets give some examples:

Johnny Depp's style has barely changed for years and rightly so, he knows what he's doing. All of these outfits would work just as well on someone now.
As far as I'm concerned, nobody suit's up the way Ed Westwick does, but everybody looks good in a decent suit for one reason, they're classic, there's little room for error (not impossible though).

So let this be the year for simplicity and establishing a timeless style.

OUTFITS// Aquamarine + Quilted

So I decided to brave the street directly outside my house for my outfit photo today, felt a little weird and embarrassing but life is hard for a fashion blogger.

I think my new lens really makes the photos better

LIFE// New Years Resolutions

It's a whole new year and as such people everywhere are laying out aspirations for it. They might go unfulfilled and that's absolutely fine but it's still nice to think of some. Anyway if you didn't what would you have to be depressed about next New Year. Here's mine:

1. Commit more to blogging

I spent a lot of time in the past month putting together an editorial calendar for 2013 to help me with a posting schedule and I actually a had a whole bunch of holiday posts lined up and infinite time to make them happen since I'm off work and college at the moment and I still didn't manage to make it happen. This is something I wanna change starting yesterday. Infact I'll hopefully be posting an outfit post later.

2. Continue to establish a Personal Style

This is something everyone might want to think about, as we get older we form solid opinions on what we like and don't like and that's all a part of growing up. This year I want to embrace that and develop my own style, it's all well and good to follow trends but you've gotta make it work for you not the other way around. You all know what I'm talking about, you've all seen em, that slightly, ermm let's say chubby guy trying to cram his ass into the tightest jeans he can (been there) for what he thinks is fashionable and yeah it ain't pretty.

3. Not expect too much out of myself

Now, this might seem a little backward but it isn't, my biggest problem is that I'm not 100% perfect 100% of the time and as soon as I slip I feel like there isn't any point in trying (hence the dusty treadmill I haven't used since a lazy day back in september) but who the F is! Don't let it get to you!

Disclaimer: (if this post comes across weird it's probably because I wrote it 6 in the morning after a sleepless night) but if it comes across totes inspirational then that's just because I'm talented
